Joe Biden talks about the Depression

image Joe Biden’s interview with CBS News Anchor Katie Couric the other night was a bit over shadowed by his own ignorance. In the interview he stated, "When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the princes of greed…" The problem is that in 1929 no one owned a television and the President of the United States was Hoover not FDR. Roosevelt was elected to the Presidency in 1932 shortly after the depression and began his term in 1933.

To be fair FDR did often address the nation directly with his infamous radio broadcasts known as the  "Fire Side Chats" during his stay as President, however these were not done via television. So  between Biden and Obama is there any knowledge of American History? I watch Jay Leno’s Jaywalking and I laugh, or I watch the movie Idiocracy, but then I worry. Am I the only one who worries we are all becoming blissfully ignorant or worse, stupid even? If you run for office please do us all a favor and get simple facts right. And if you don’t know, thats actually okay with me. Don’t lie or make it up as you go along to make your point sound good.

This is an all too common theme amongst political candidates. I propose that all politicians running for public office be required to pass some basic economic and US History exams before being allowed to run.

Sounds like a plan to me.

I would be happy if someone with real leadership ability ran for public office. My big issue is choice. To quote the great South Park, I only get to pick between “A giant douche” and “a turd sandwich”.

At the very least, Joe can form a complete sentence in English unlike our current sitting president. And lest not bring up “facts” being wrong, Joe’s bungling of a specific date from 90 years ago is not a wisdom flaw rather then an intellectual factual flaw. I’d much have an intellectual factual flaw then a bad wisdom flaw. A bad wisdom flaw equates to unjust wars and bungling on every facet of every policy….foreign and domestic.

I’m with Con, but also propose there be a “Presidential Certification” requirement. We’d just have to keep track of the candidates who visit the presidential dump sites.

Where can I download the braindump for the presidential certification exam?
